10 Killer iPhone Apps. #1: Bible
Killer App #1: the Bible App [link]
I just got an iPhone 4. I have had a 3G iPhone for 2 years, and the Bible App was the first download I can remember on my iPhone. but the speed, screen resolution and multi-tasking of the iPhone 4 are GAME-CHANGERS! The Bible App is SO responsive on the iPhone 4. You can even download versions onto your phone. Don’t feel left out if you have an Android – they just announced TODAY that you can now download versions on the Android phones! They have a lot of news coming out this week, so stay tuned to their blog. The growth has been phenomenal, as this post from last month explains…

YouVersion is now up to almost 9 million users and we’re beginning to see the strain on our infrastructure once again. And with a growth rate of about 900,000 new users each month, fortifying YouVersion is going to be an ongoing task.
I know there are other Bible apps out there, but the fact that this has always been free is really the “selling” point for me. They also have a great Bible reading plan feature with tons of options, and the standard Facebook and Twitter sharing features. And now the ESV, the version that my pastor uses, is available for FREE download.
There are too many features to cover here, so just go get it. They support tons of smart phones and even have a verion you can just load up on your laptop, so you don’t have to have an iPhone or iPad to use these great tools. http://www.youversion.com/

I'm making a list, and I'll check it twice with your "killer apps" series, Brook: this will be my first app add when, 'Deo volente', I get my iPhone (hopefully, in days or weeks). I'd get this first if only for the principle of the thing, but I like what I see of the functionality and flexibility, too. Thanks for the post!

I've got this one and the bible.org NET-version app, and both have served me well.

And you've been using these resources for quite a while, haven't you, Nathan? That is to say: you've found these to be stable, reliable platforms, right? Thanks for joining in the discussion — taking time out from your own ministry-faith-tech project: http://www.christianhumanist.org/chb/. Always glad to have a bit of the Gilmour-geist in the mix! Cheers.

I've not had them that long (I just got the iPod in a freak eBay accident back in August), but neither has hung up on me, if that's what you're askin'.
