4 Great 1080P HDTVs for Your Church Lobby
These days, you could walk into Costco, Walmart, Target, etc and pick any HDTV on the rack and probably be satisfied with it. However, if you are like me, I want the best product I can get for the least amount of money. Not the cheapest. Not the best. The best for the cheapest. Since few people have an HDTV lab to adequately test HDTVs side by side, I trust the experts. Based on this review from PCWORLD, I picked out the #1, #2, #4, & #7 spots and did some price comparison and further research. Read on for prices, links and the bottom line on 4 of the best choices out there…
LCD TVs have won out over plasma and DLP sets, but that is another story. 42 inch HDTVs are the sweet spot right now for LCDs, although your mileage may vary. When buying online, I trust only the best websites and established businesses. To make it easy, I have only quoted prices from Amazon.com. If you have questions, comments, or other suggestions – feel free to leave a comment below.
Samsung LN40B650 40-Inch 1080p $1097 on Amazon.com
The Samsung LN40B650 is an excellent all-around HDTV, thanks to its very good picture quality, Internet extras, and user-friendliness.
LG 42LH50 42-Inch 1080p $799 at Amazon.com
The LG 42LH50 provides great connected features, above-average image quality, and good looks for a moderate price.
Vizio VT420M 42-Inch LCD $789 at Amazon.com
Though other HDTVs offer more extras and options, the Vizio VT420M performs best where it matters most: image quality.
AOC-L42H961 42-Inch 1080p $683 at Amazon.com
The 42-inch AOC Envision L42H961 LCD struggles with fast-motion content, but is otherwise a decent no-frills TV at a rock-bottom price.
Bargain Bonus: Willing to Settle?
Samsung PN42C450 42-Inch 720p Plasma $540 at Amazon.com
Which one would I buy? For the application of a monitor in the lobby for video of the service and digital signage before and after the service, I would go for AOC L42H961. Why? 1080P is a deal breaker for me – I am not willing to settle, so the 720 plasma route is out for me. Our church records the service in high def 1920X1080, so teh ability to show the raw video without compression is compelling. The downside of the AOC model is it doesn’t ahndle fast motion as well as the competition, but most pastors move pretty slow
