Choosing a Web Designer
Aug 27th
Who do you trust? Who is the expert? How do you know if a web designer is worth his weight in salt?
FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a web designer. My policy is to give away information and sell a service. Early in the process with clients, I go through a “discovery” phase – finding out where they stand with their site, then I take them through a teaching phase- so that the decisions that follow are informed. This is when I often find that the clients have had a bad run with their last “webmaster” (I use that term lightly). Hindsight is 20/20 and this is a particularly hard lesson when a bad website is publicly displaying your decisions… for better or worse.
Here are a few questions you might ask to ensure your decision to hire a company or individual is a good one: More >

Google Notebook to Evernote
Jan 29th

I know I’m late in the game, but Google announced that Google Notebook will go away in the future.
I suggest using Evernote as a solution. Evernote is very easy to capture things off of the web and then add your ideas. You can journal and much much more. Also Evernote has an Google Notebook import for those who don’t want to re-enter anything. Very cool! And it’s free. (They have premium edition that gives you more features and better experience, but the free account is fine for basic capturing functions)
Here how Evernote works…
I believe it is very important in ministry to get your ideas out of your head and on to paper or a electronic document of some sort. So develop some system and stick to it!

Online Resources
May 14th
Using Google Spreadsheets, Church 2.0 has started to compile a list of useful sites for Pastors. We have organized the sites into the following categories Study, Theology, Worship, Preaching, & Media. These categories are found at the bottom of the spreadsheet. [View the List]
Throughout this week I’ll highlight a few of my favorite sites for each category.
This is a working/evolving document. If you have sites that you suggest we add, post a comment with the link and we’ll add it.
Why Online Collaboration?
Mar 29th
How often do you have to meet with your staff, elders, or ministry teams to create, edit, or finalize a document, a project, a plan or a schedule? What if you could do it all on your own time? That’s what online collaborating allows you to do. Create a document and share it for editing, setup a proposed schedules online and have volunteers agree or disagree to the dates proposed, share a set list so the worship team can plan and/or practice ahead of time.
One of the most difficult things is trying to work around other peoples schedules. Now you don’t have to. You can bring the meeting to them and on their time.
